TCG Deck Press Guide
This 3D printed deck press is designed to flatten single, double, or triple-sleeved card decks, removing air pockets and ensuring a compact, uniform deck. Follow these steps to safely and effectively use the press.
What's Included
- 3D printed deck press box
- Flat press plate
- 3 bolts: long (41mm), short (27mm), and one extra for in-between sizes
Instructions
- Select the Appropriate Bolt For decks of approximately 75-100 double-sleeved cards, use the long bolt (41mm). For decks of 100+ double-sleeved cards, use the short bolt (27mm). You can place filler cards, such as standard playing cards, in the press as needed to fill any space where either bolt doesn't allow for pressure to be applied.
- Prepare the Deck Ensure your deck is neatly stacked and sleeved. Place the deck inside the 3D printed press box, making sure it sits flat and centered. Be sure to remove any debris, as the press will cause any debris to imprint on your cards and potentially damage them.
- Insert the Press Plate Insert the appropriate bolt (long or short, based on deck size) into the threaded hole on top of the press plate. Place the flat press plate on top of the card deck, ensuring it sits evenly over the cards. Begin screwing the bolt in by hand until it makes contact with the press plate.
- Apply Finger-Tight Pressure Tighten the bolt until you feel light resistance, applying only finger-tight pressure. This ensures gentle compression on the cards to remove air pockets. Do not over-tighten, as excessive force may damage the 3D printed parts or the cards.
- Initial Pressing Period Let the deck sit in the press under finger-tight pressure for approximately 4 hours. This allows the sleeves to begin settling and air pockets to dissipate.
- Check and Adjust After 4 hours, check the deck and gently tighten the bolt further if possible, maintaining finger-tight pressure. Do not force it. Minimal pressure is sufficient to flatten the cards effectively.
- Extended Pressing Allow the deck to remain in the press for an additional 24 hours (or longer for optimal results). The longer the deck sits under pressure, the flatter and more compact it will become as the sleeves fully settle.
- Remove the Deck After the pressing period (minimum 24-28 hours), carefully unscrew the bolt and remove the press plate. Take the deck out of the press box. Your cards should now be flattened with reduced air pockets.
Tips
- For best results, leave the deck in the press longer (48 hours or more) if time allows.
- Always handle the 3D printed parts with care to avoid cracking or breaking.
- If you notice resistance while tightening, stop immediately to avoid damaging the press or cards.
Warning
- Over-tightening can break the 3D printed components or damage your cards. Always use gentle, finger-tight pressure.
- Store the press in a safe, dry place when not in use to maintain its integrity.
